About VBar
Over the last decade, Vbar&café has become a makeshift bar/living room/office/coffee house/etc. to many, including the people who work here. The “V” honors its predecessor’s name, Caffé Valdino; its neighborhood, Greenwich Village; and its main ingredient, Vino… Our milestones:
November 2000
Vbar opens as a nighttime wine and beer bar with only one employee.
September 2001
Vbar hires more employees and expands operations to daytime also as a coffee shop. Come 5:30 everyday, Vbar&café would undergo a magical albeit chaotic transition from café to bar: lights go down on unsuspecting readers, candles are lit, pastry cases are emptied, classical music goes off and the iPod is turned on. The tradition is still alive today, but a little less chaotic.
November 2010
VBar turns 10 and celebrates both its birthday and the opening of sibling location, VbarStMarks in the East Village.
